Kacey de Groot, a man who states that he identifies and lives as a woman is campaigning to be Deputy General Secretary of the National Education Union. This individual is already on the union’s executive. Postal ballots need to be received by 30 September. DeGroot has been endorsed in an open letter by numerous queer activists including Drag Race UK stars. The letter states;

“As LGBT+ people we know and understand the powerful impact places of education can have on LGBT+ young people,”

This is another example of activists of an unscrupulous ideology seeking to influence children and exploit their vulnerabilities. The fact is that all children, because of their stages of psychological development are suggestible and vulnerable to manipulation and grooming. Gender identity ideology is based on queer theory and has no basis in evidence.

Promoting the idea in education that individuals can change sex is psychologically harmful for all children as it creates anxiety and confusion for all children as it seeks to demand that children deny the evidence of their own eyes. It is especially harmful for those children who may be confused about their sexuality, going through puberty or have other issues such as trauma and autism. The idea of having a political activist pushing this ideology in schools is abhorrent and undermines public trust in our education system.

Instead of listening to best evidence and expert findings, politicians and public service leaders are at risk, like susceptible children, of being confused about what reality is, and what it is not. Telling children that it is possible to change sex and encouraging inclusion of gender identity ideology in schools is a particularly damaging intervention to have unleashed on our schools, children, and their families.
